PrEval at the UN

International Interest in the Work of the PrEval Network

Our PrEval results are also attracting international attention: The author team of the GPPi study “How do we know what works in preventing violent extremism” was invited to present their results on 19 November at the “Resource Mobilization, and Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Compact”. This is one of several working groups of the UN Counter-Terrorism Compact, an initiative founded in 2018 that brings together 45 UN organizations and partners to promote coordinated action to prevent and combat terrorism worldwide. The PrEval team was particularly pleased with the interest shown by the UN working group in the recommendations on capacity building for evaluation in the field of counter-extremism in various country contexts. After all, the working group has also set the goal of strengthening the capacity of member states and the UN in the evaluation of counter-terrorism measures and the prevention of violent extremism. The discussions of the UN working group once again provided the PrEval team with an exciting insight into the international organization's efforts to systematically integrate evaluation into the projects they support.
