Questionnaires in Use: Methodological Exchange and Insights into the Practical Application of Questionnaires as (Self-)Evaluation Tools
How do you work with a questionnaire? In civic education, democracy promotion, and extremism prevention, questionnaires are a key tool for quality management and (self-)evaluation. But how do you design them to be effective, target-group-oriented, and methodologically sound? In this 2.5-hour digital expert talk, everything revolves around the targeted use of questionnaires for (self-)evaluation. In the first part, the basics of designing, using, and further developing questionnaires are presented. In the second part, the focus is on the practical application of questionnaires in the field. This 2.5-hour digital expert discussion focuses on the targeted use of questionnaires for (self-)evaluation. The first part covers the basics of designing, using, and further developing questionnaires, illustrated with practical examples from the “Archiv der Jugendkulturen” and its training work with the police. It also addresses typical challenges such as dealing with heterogeneous target groups, questions of anonymity, response rates, and the selection of suitable scales. In the second part, participants work in small groups on the practical development of their own questionnaires. The aim is to create initial drafts or further develop existing instruments. The event offers space for collegial exchange, discussions, and individual questions about implementation.
Target group
The event is aimed at professionals in civic education, democracy promotion, and extremism prevention, trainers, evaluation managers, and anyone who would like to further develop or reestablish their evaluation practice, regardless of the target group.

The speaker
Farina Pippilotta Wäcker is a speaker and coordinator at the “Archiv der Jugendkulturen” and works on the project “Digital Labs – Competent for Resilience against Online Hate and Disinformation.” There, she designs and coordinates training courses for multipliers, educational professionals, and the police. In addition, she conducts research for the SOMERA database on digital phenomena in the areas of youth cultures, group-focused enmity, online hate, and disinformation. Farina Pippilotta Wäcker studied history and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin and has many years of experience in civic education.
